About me

A small bio

I’m Jean Gionet. I work in digital communications, care about accessibility, and have always been drawn to computers, servers, and figuring out how things work.

My path started early, paper routes, babysitting, labour work, burgers, pizza delivery, then Cyberbeach, one of Sudbury’s early internet service providers. That first webmaster and support role turned a hobby into a career that eventually brought me back to Sudbury and into nearly 25 years with the Ontario government.

Outside of work, life is Julie, our family, my kids and grandson, volunteer firefighting, music, reading, gaming, walking, gym time, travel, nature, and exploring the world whenever we can. I love new tech and pushing things in my homelab, but I try to keep it as a sandbox, not the centre of the day.

A day in the life

  • Volunteer firefighting, learning, fixing, tinkering, and helping where I can.
  • Blue Jays games, Leafs games, and saying there is always next season when needed.
  • Music, old and new classics, with The Beatles always near the top.

What keeps me grounded

  • Julie is the love of my life, and family is the centre of everything.
  • I prefer smaller communities, love nature, and enjoy the outdoors, even if winter and I are not best friends.
  • I like space, but I’m happy to keep my feet on solid ground.
  • Enjoy life while it is happening, notice the little things, and do not let tech consume the day.
